Applicants must meet the following age requirements by September 1 of the year for which they are applying [confirm GCA's official cutoff date]:

Junior Kindergarten: Must be 4 years old.

Kindergarten: Must be 5 years old.

Grade 1: Must be 6 years old (unless the child has successfully completed Kindergarten at an accredited school).

All junior kindergarten applicants must be able to care for their restroom needs independently.

Junior Kindergarten – Kindergarten: Not applicable.

Grades 1 – 8: Copy of the current report card and the previous year's report card.

Birth Certificate: A copy is required of all applicants.

Immunization Records: Current records as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia. [Confirm required forms.]

504 / IEP / Educational Plan: Any of these documents should be submitted during the application process if the applicant has ever received one.

Junior Kindergarten – Grade 1: If your child has been in a school or childcare setting, the recommender should be a current or former teacher. If not, an adult who knows or has worked with your child is appropriate.

Grades 2 – 8: A recommendation from a principal or counselor, a math teacher, and an English teacher. [Confirm GCA's recommendation policy.]

Applicants are scheduled for assessment only after the application form and fee have been submitted with all supporting documents. Assessment format by level:

Junior K & Kindergarten: A readiness assessment observing early concepts (colors, letters, numbers, shapes), social-emotional development, and fine and gross motor skills.

Grades 1 – 8: Assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics appropriate to the grade level.

An age-appropriate interview is conducted with every applicant as part of the process. [Confirm GCA's assessment tools and format.]

Once the assessment and interview are complete, our admissions team has what they need to make a decision on your child's application. You'll receive an email and see a decision update in your admissions account. [Confirm notification method and typical timeline.]

Each year, families complete re-enrollment paperwork and pay an enrollment deposit to secure their child's spot for the following school year. A spot is guaranteed once the online re-enrollment is complete and the deposit is received by the published deadline. [Confirm deposit amount and deadline.]

After the deadline, current students may re-enroll only if seats remain available and once any applicable late fee is paid. [Confirm late-enrollment policy and fee.]
